Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James is known to be a shoe connoisseur. In fact, he’s often seen rocking a version of your favorite shoe that you’ve never seen before. You’ll ask yourself, “What!? Where can I get those?” Sometimes, the King uses his kicks as a platform for messages — both inspirational and family-based. Other times, he’ll simply bust out a one-off colorway.
The Cavs are currently trailing the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, 0-2, as most hoops fans know. With the series shifting to Cleveland for Games 3 and 4, James and his teammates were back home for Tuesday’s practice session. Staying true to form, the King decided to wear a unique pair of his signature shoe, the Nike Zoom LeBron 6.
These were no ordinary LeBron 6’s, though. The colorway, named “Stewie Griffin,” borrows hues from the popular animated television cartoon Family Guy. The toe portion of the shoe mimics Stewie’s yellow shirt and matching red overalls, and the blue accents on the midsoles are derived from his shoes.
In the following clip, you’ll see James kickin’ it with Kendrick Perkins during a quick break in Tuesday’s practice.
James, now 33 years of age and in his 15th season of NBA service, has been a man on a mission in these playoffs. Through Cleveland’s first 20 games, the Akron Hammer has posted averages of 34.6 points (NBA-high) on 54.4 percent shooting from the field (35.5 percent from beyond the arc), 9.2 rebounds, 9.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 block in 41.7 minutes per game.
Wednesday’s Game 3 matchup is set to tip inside Quicken Loans Arena at 9:00 p.m. EST with ABC having live broadcast coverage. Let’s see if the Cavs can bounce back on their home floor.
