LeBron James put on an impressive performance once again in Game 2 of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors. Despite all his efforts, his team went down, 122-103. After the game, the Cavs star admitted that losing is pretty tough to handle, especially after giving every ounce of energy to come up victorious.
As reported by Ben Golliver of Sports Illustrated, James said:
“It sucks to lose. It sucks when you go out there and give it everything you have… Nothing will ever take the love of the game away from me.”
James finished with 29 points, nine rebounds, and 13 assists. As observed, he was looking to get his teammates involved early on. At the half, James already tallied eight assists. Come the second half, he still got his teammates involved but was looking to rack up his own baskets, too.
His playmaking ability was key to keeping the Cavs close by. In the third quarter — where the Warriors usually pound their opponents to a pulp — Cleveland outscored them, 34-31.
It was a valiant effort yet come the fourth quarter, the Warriors remained hot from the field. Stephen Curry casually knocked down 3-pointer after 3-pointer. While the Cavaliers had an answer for every basket, the Warriors just have too many weapons. Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant also knocked down most of the shots they threw up.
The Cavaliers are down 2-0. It will be an uphill climb from here. Though they climbed back from a 3-1 lead two years ago, James knows that the circumstances are very different now.
They have a towering task at hand. Let’s see if James can add another milestone to his legacy.
