Through the first few weeks of the collegiate season, Oklahoma freshman point guard Trae Young is quickly garnering national attention for his continued stellar play.
This has also caught the eye of Cleveland Cavaliers star forward LeBron James, who recently gave a personal shout-out to Young via social media.
Young has shown to be a dynamic talent as both a playmaker and scorer through the first 11 games of the season by leading the nation averaging 28.7 points and 10.4 assists per contest while shooting 48.5 percent from the field and 41.1 percent from beyond the arc.
This was highlighted by a 20-point, 20-assist game while tying an NCAA Division I record with 22 assists against Northwestern State. It includes scoring more than 20 points in all but one game with six double-doubles and nailed at least three long distance makes in a game nine times. Although Trae Young has been knocked by his scouts for being 6-foot-2 with a 6-foot-4 wingspan, he has shown to be an efficient scorer and distributor with the ball in his hands.
It is quite rare to see LeBron James single out any collegiate players via social media, which only puts a much larger spotlight on Young moving forward along with further highlighting his possible NBA prospects after this season.
