After the final buzzer sounds, especially on big games, it has been a practice for players from both competing teams to exchange handshakes and hugs to congratulate one another for their performances. That was the case on Monday following the showdown between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors. However, Cavs forward LeBron James only approached one player before heading to their locker room — Kevin Durant.
While the likes of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson were still on the court, the former four-time MVP only went to Durant for an embrace before heading straight to dugout, according to Chris B. Haynes of ESPN.
James is by no means salty after games, as he has shown in the past that he is gracious in defeat and is not shy to give credit to his opponents. That said, it makes his decision to only exchange pleasantries with Durant even more surprising and it left many wondering why that was the case.
The Cavs superstar finished the game with a team-high 32 points, on 12-of-18 shooting from the field, to go along with eight rebounds, six assists, three steals, and four blocks. His efforts were not enough though to give his team the win as they fell short, 118-108. Durant, on the other hand, also had 32 points of his own while adding five rebounds, eight assists, three steals, and one block.
The Warriors did have more production from their bench and they played better defense in the second half which led to their big win on the night.
