The Cleveland Cavaliers have lacked the consistency they have had in previous seasons, prompting plenty of people to question whether the team is good enough to even win the Eastern Conference title this year. But according to LeBron James, the Cavs are going to be just fine because they have him, per Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com.
“What is known is I’ll be available, so we’ve got a chance,” James said, referring to the playoffs and the Cavs’ quest for a fourth straight Finals. “And I know the rest of the guys that’s available is gonna be ready for whatever challenge we get for the rest of the regular season going into the postseason, so, that’s all you can ask for.”
Over the past few years, the Cavs winning the East seemed to be a foregone conclusion even during the middle of the regular season, but chemistry issues, injuries, and stronger competition in the East have all made it harder for Cleveland to find stability.
In any case, the Cavs are still inside the playoff picture in the conference with a 41-29 record prior to Wednesday’s home game against the Toronto Raptors. The Cavaliers, however, only have four games separating them from the East’s current No. 8 team in the form of the Milwaukee Bucks, so Cleveland is definitely still at risk of at least losing home court advantage in the playoffs.
The good thing of course for the Cavs is that LeBron James is playing like a man not on his 15th season in the league, especially of late. In his first 10 games this month, James has managed to average sparking numbers of 31.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 9.2 assists while owning a 54.3 field goal shooting percentage.
