Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James will celebrate his 33rd birthday on Saturday night. He’ll be in Utah that night for a match-up against the Jazz, but the former No. 1 overall pick says he’s looking forward to the occasion.
“It’s always great to get to live another year,” James told Joe Vardon of cleveland.com. “I don’t take those moments for granted. And not only to be able to live another year, I get to play an NBA game on my birthday. That’s like icing on the cake, literally, for your birthday.”
According to cleveland.com, James will be playing on his birthday for the seventh time in his illustrious 15-year career. He’s performed remarkably well in those games. In his first six birthday outings, the three-time champion turned in averages of 33.5 points on .560 shooting from the field (15-32 from beyond the arc), 7.5 rebounds, and 6.7 assists.
“It’s my born day, it’s my birthday,” James said. He shares the birthday with Tiger Woods. “You want to perform well on your birthday and I’ve been fortunate enough to have a few games on my birthday.”
James has been playing great basketball as of late. In his 35 games played this season, the Akron Hammer has turned in averages of 27.8 points (third in the NBA) on .560 shooting from the field (career-high and 8th-best in the NBA), a career-high 9.3 assists (second in NBA), and 8.2 rebounds.
Saturday night’s game is scheduled to tip at 8:00 p.m. EST. Let’s see if the King shows out.
