The Cleveland Cavaliers fell to the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals in stunning fashion, getting blown out 108-83. The Cavs had nothing going all day long, but it was especially bad for their three-point shooters.
Kevin Love finished with a team-high 17 points to go along with eight rebounds and three assists, but shot just 5-of-14 from the field. LeBron James had 15 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, and seven turnovers on 5-16 shooting, easily his worst performance of the postseason. As a team, Cleveland shot just 4-of-26 from beyond the arc, with the starting unit of James, Love, Kyle Korver, J.R. Smith, and George Hill going 3-of-19.
After the game, LeBron James was asked about the outcome of Game 1 and his own personal game. Just as he’d done in many Game 1’s beforehand, he called this one a ‘feel-out’ game.
“I’ve seen every coverage. For me, Game 1 has always been a feel out game if you follow my history. I got a good sense of the way they played me today and how I’ll play heading into Game 2.”
On top of that, James was also asked how worried he was with the way the Celtics dominated Game 1. He expressed as much worry as you would expect from the best player in the world after the first game in a series.
“I have zero level of concern at this stage. I didn’t go to college so its not March Madness. You get better throughout the series, see ways u can get better. I’ve been down 0-1, been down 0-2. There’s never a level of concern for me.”
James and the Cavs will now have all of Monday to prepare and execute changes for Game 2, which will be on Tuesday night back at the TD Garden at 8:30PM EST.
