The big three has been the trend around the NBA the last handful of years and LeBron James has been apart of it. He joined Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami to create a big three and helped create the trend that has been popular across the NBA.
Since he came back to Cleveland, he has kept that trend of being part of a big three. When he signed on, Kyrie Irving was already apart of the team and Kevin Love was traded over from the Timberwolves.
When Kyrie wanted out, they traded him for Isaiah Thomas and still kept Love, to form a new big three of sorts. But with the trade of Thomas to the Los Angeles Lakers, there is no more big three in Cleveland.
With Kevin Love out for a couple of more weeks at least, it’s now James and a bunch of other role players, something he got used to in his early years in Cleveland.
James was asked at morning shootaround before the Cavaliers game against the Oklahoma City Thunder about not having a big three. He had this to say, via Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com.
“My approach doesn’t change,” James said. “I still got to lead. I still got to go out and perform and do it in all facets of the game. So, I have no problem with that. I love taking the light off of my teammates and all they have to worry about is going out and playing. So, I don’t mind that at all.”
The first game without a big three was no issue for the Cavaliers beating the Boston Celtics 121-99. They will look to repeat that performance on Tuesday night when they take on the Thunder in Oklahoma City.
