The recruiting to get LeBron James to another team has already started, and some creative Philadelphia 76ers fans put some new signs out to recruit The King to the City of Brotherly Love on Monday.
One billboard says “Complete The Process” which is a play off the 76ers slogan “Trust the Process” that they used through the years of the rebuild. The second billboard has the simple slogan, #PhillyWantsLeBron. The third has the numbers of Joel Embiid, Robert Covington, Ben Simmons, and Dario Saric. Alongside it is James’ number 23.
During Tuesday’s shootaround, James was asked about the billboards and he gave Nikki Goel of ClutchPoints an interesting response.
“I think it’s cool that a city wants me to play for them,” said James. “It’s dope actually.”
Of course, people are going to read into this and say this means LeBron is confirmed going to the 76ers when the season ends, but that doesn’t seem like the case.
The 76ers will probably get a chance to give James a pitch, but so will most of the teams that want him.
At times James still seems blown away that he is getting to live out this dream life, and that is probably the case right here.
He could have never imagined that people would pay for billboards to get him to try and join another team, and as he gets older he seems to be trying to enjoy these moments more and more as his next free agency stint approaches.
