Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James was humbled upon passing the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most field goals in NBA playoff history. The Cavs forward did so with his sixth field goal of the night, extending it even further with a 44-point performance against the Boston Celtics to tie up the Eastern Conference Finals at 2-2.
“Anytime I’m in the same breath with the greats, it’s just humbling,” said James. “I think it’s pretty cool.”
James scored 20 or more points for the ninth time this postseason, the second-most total in his storied playoff career.
The King has been a constant sighting in the playoffs for the longest time, with this being the 13th-straight season in which he has appeared in at least 11 games — making him a definite staple in TV sets and NBA arenas once the regular season comes to an end.
James has reached the NBA Finals seven-straight times and is two wins away from an eighth-straight appearance, having already dethroned Michael Jordan for the most points in playoff history during the 2016-17 postseason.
It is crazy to think that the four-time MVP reached this feat despite being recognized by many as a player who is more in love with making plays for his teammates. But with the God-given physical traits that James possesses, it would be an injustice to nature if he did not maximize his gifts.
