Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James, his business associate Maverick Carter, and Springhill Entertainment are teaming up to create a new version of the 1990’s film series House Party, according to several reports.

As most movie connoisseurs know, House Party debuted in 1990 with Kid ’n Play serving as front-men for the New Line comedy. Now, nearly 30 years later, Springhill Ent. and Atlanta writers Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori are set to pen a new screenplay.

“This is definitely not a reboot. It’s an entirely new look for a classic movie,” James tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Everyone I grew up with loved House Party. To partner with this creative team to bring a new House Party to a new generation is unbelievable.”

Carter says he and his team are currently looking for the proper musicians to perform on the soundtrack of this new rendition. Drake was mentioned as a possible candidate. Carter also noted that James could make a cameo appearance.

“We’re trying out some ideas for musicians to be cast in and to be a part of the project,” says Carter, who adds that a cameo by James is in high demand since his well-received performance in Universal’s Trainwreck, also remains a possibility. “There’s no plan for it now, but he’s a fantastic actor, and if he wants a role, Stephen will find a great role to put him in,” adds Carter.

Exactly who will be cast as Kid ‘n Play in the new film remains to be seen, but there are certainly a few actors and artists who might fit the bill.
