In his 15th season in the league, Cleveland Cavaliers star forward LeBron James has gotten off to yet another incredible start.
According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, James has propelled himself to a Player Efficiency Rating (PER) above 30 (30.56), which could put him on track to garner a fifth MVP award.
The 32-year-old is averaging a team-high 28.6 points on a career-high 58.5 shooting from the field along with 7.3 rebounds, and a team-high 8.3 assists. He also has 10 double-doubles and a triple-double. The Cavs superstar also holds a career-best mark of 42.7 percent from 3-point range. On top of that, he has scored at least at 20 and 30 points in 14 and eight times, respectively.
LeBron James is currently leading the league in fourth quarter scoring with 10.0 points per quarter. It is quite remarkable for him to continue to play at a high level in his 15th season, given the amount of games he has played up to this point of his career.
That said, James has had to take up a more significant role with both Derrick Rose and Isaiah Thomas dealing with injuries. At the same time, his increased involvement had been needed in order for the Cavs to right the ship from their early season struggles.
If he continues to play at this level there is no reason to believe he won’t be in the midst of the MVP conversation at the end of the season.
