On Monday afternoon, the NBA officially announced that Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James had been given the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week award for his outstanding play in Week 7 of the 2017-18 season (Nov. 27 – Dec. 3), marking the 58th time he’s earned the distinguished honor.
James, now in his 15th season of NBA service, led the Cavs to a perfect 4-0 mark in Week 7, averaging 27.3 points on 50 percent shooting from the field, 9.0 assists, 8.3 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 1.0 block in 34.0 minutes per game. He was the only player in the league to average at least 25/8/8 over that span and ranked first in double-doubles (4). And in fact, James posted a double-double performance in each of the Cavs’ four wins over that span.
For the record, Houston Rockets guard James Harden earned Player of the Week honors in the Western Conference. Harden, now 28 years of age, averaged 34.0 points, 9.0 assists, and 7.3 rebounds while leading the Rockets to a 3-0 Week 7.
James and the Cavs, now winners of 11 consecutive games (longest active streak in the NBA), will be back in action on Monday night when they face off against the Chicago Bulls inside the United Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST with Fox Sports Ohio and WGN having live broadcast coverage.
