Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James has never been primarily known as a knockdown three-point shooter. Nevertheless, he has made a noticeable improvement in stroking the three-ball this season in which he is sinking 1.9 three-pointers per game (career-high) on 38.3 percent shooting percentage from deep (second best in career).
Some people might even be surprised to know that James has more career three-pointers than the likes of Manu Ginobili, Mitch Richmond, and Derek Fisher. During Saturday night’s road game against the Orlando Magic, James passed another legend on the all-time three-pointers made list when he went 4-for-7 from beyond the arc to take former Miami Heat point guard Tim Hardaway’s place at the 23rd spot of the list.
Entering the Magic game, James has a career total of 1,539 three-pointers, good for 24th all-time, just three treys short of Hardaway’s 1,542 three-pointers.
The four-time MVP shot efficiently from the floor against the Magic like he always does in games this season. The four-time MVP went 8-of-11 from the field in the first half, which includes a 2-for-3 line from the three-point region during the first two quarters. He continued his scoring assault in the second half in which he made four more field goals, including the two three-pointers that pushed him ahead of Hardaway’s mark.
James finished the game with 33 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists, and six steals in an all-around effort in the Cavs’ 131-127 victory.
James could also make it to the 22nd spot all-time on Monday when the Cavaliers take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on the road. James just needs three three-pointers to tie former Los Angeles Lakers swingman Eddie Jones’ career total of 1,546 treys.
