LeBron James decided to take his talents to Los Angeles and join the Lakers, leaving his Cleveland Cavaliers for the second time this decade. This time, however, he left them with a championship and four absolutely terrific seasons that included four NBA Finals appearances and an NBA Championship in 2016.
According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, James’ first game back in Cleveland will be on November 21, 2018.
James and the new-look Lakers will be heading to Northeast Ohio to play against James’ old squad. As of right now, this Cavs team still has it’s same core from last season in Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, George Hill, and Tristan Thompson.
James will be entering his 16th season in the NBA, and is arguably coming off of his best season in the league. In 82 games last season, he averaged 27.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 9.1 assists, 1.4 steals, 0.9 blocks, and 1.8 three-pointers per game on 54.2 percent shooting from the field and 36.7 percent from beyond the arc.
The Cavs, on the flip side, will be starting their second post-LeBron era, but they’re already better off than last time having Kevin Love signed on for the foreseeable future and having just drafted Collin Sexton.
