The Cleveland Cavaliers have been clicking on all cylinders despite being ravaged by injuries as of late. Their success so far in the 2017-18 NBA season is a good sign for things to come once they do get some of those key players back on the court.

Among those still working to return is two-time All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas. Although Thomas is still expected to be out for quite some time, the Cavs have already given some thought to how he might fit into the rotation, according to Chris Fedor of cleveland.com:

“He’s a veteran, too, so he kind of knows what to expect,” LeBron James said. “Obviously this has been another difficult challenge for him with this injury but we as the other guys that’s been playing have to figure out how to get him involved and get him acclimated as quick as possible.”

James has already expressed his excitement for the return of Thomas as it gives him another playmaker to share the ball with. The three-time champ currently leads the league in minutes per game and despite their supposed ‘lack of concern’ over his extensive playing time, it makes sense for the Cavs to want to rest James as much as possible.

Thomas’ return has largely flown under the radar with all the attention seemingly focused on the Boston Celtics’ early success with superstar point guard Kyrie Irving. However, the addition of the NBA’s third-leading scorer last year could be more than enough to put Cleveland back on top of the Eastern Conference.
