Heading into Game 3, the Cleveland Cavaliers had their backs a bit against the wall in a 0-2 hole in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics. However, the Cavs responded by way of a collective effort with LeBron James once again leading the charge offensively to finally grab a win in the series.
It was another impressive outing that saw James post a double-double while leading the game with 27 points and 12 assists. Following the huge win, the 33-year-old made light of his unique skill set to impact the game greatly across the board.
Although James speaking jokingly of his versatility in each of aspects of the game, there are not many players in the league that could excel in all those categories on the court. It has been a huge part of why he has become one of the game’s greatest players as he has been an elite talent, both as a scorer and passer. These are enough reasons why he could one day be the first player in league history to finish inside the top five in both scoring and assists.
What has been most impressive is that James has been able to still prove this in his 15th season in the league where he is playing some of the best basketball of his career. He finished the regular season third in scoring at 27.5 points and second with a career-best 9.1 assists per game. It is unheard of for a player at this point in their career to still be performing at that level.
With James still showing that he has plenty left in the tank, his play has given the Cavs more life to potentially push forward to a fourth-straight NBA Finals despite being down 2-1 through the first three games. The four-time league MVP will have a chance to move Cleveland one game closer to that goal with a chance to even up the series in Game 4 on Monday night.
