LeBron James is not only a great basketball player, but he is also a very smart businessman and most of the things he does in terms of business are usually done for a reason.
After he hit his buzzer beater to give the Cleveland Cavaliers a 3-0 series lead over the Toronto Raptors, he wore a Seagrams 7 hat and according to Darren Rovell of ESPN, that decision made the Canadian Whiskey company a lot of money.
Seagrams made $1.94 million of free advertising from online, tv, and social media mentions. The Cavs star is always is very careful about what he wears, and this probably was no different. Some have already earned a new nickname for the city of Toronto — LeBronto — and now he was wearing a Canadian Whiskey hat after just putting the only Canadian team in the NBA on the verge of elimination.
No team in NBA history has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit in the playoffs, and the Raptors’ best chance to get back into the series was in Game 3. They made a big comeback late to tie it up, but it wasn’t enough as James drove the length of the floor and hit the buzzer beater to crush any hope that the Raptors had.
If the Cavaliers do make the Eastern Conference Finals they will most likely play the Boston Celtics. So what’s next for James? Will he wear a Samuel Adams hat to a press conference? Will he sip on some tea during a pregame shootaround to really make Boston mad?
