LeBron James truly is the gift that keeps on giving for the Cleveland Cavaliers – figuratively and literally.
James proved that again Friday, when just hours before Game 3 of their first-round series with the Indiana Pacers, he made sure that his teammates are going to get brand new outfits they all could wear to the scheduled contest at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, per Lisa Salters of ESPN via colleague Dave McMenamin.
This also does not appear to be a spontaneous decision by James to splurge, as, according to McMenamin, this was all planned several weeks ago.
Here’s how sleek these Cavs are looking during their arrival at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Apart from its practical uses, the designer clothes could also be a subtle way for LeBron to pump up his teammates’ spirits ahead of a crucial matchup. The Cavs are about to play the role of the road team for the first time in these playoffs, and with some of James’ teammates being new to the high-pressure atmosphere of the NBA postseason, perhaps he thought that making these other Cavs players look good could imbue some much-needed confidence in them.
Furthermore, wearing identical outfits could is also one way of showing unity for a Cavs team that has some chemistry issues left to iron out a couple of months after the trade deadline.
The Cavs avoided falling in a 0-2 hole in this series after LeBron James torched the Indiana Pacers in Game 2 with 46 points in a 100-97 victory. That said, it remains clear that he needs help. Hopefully for him and the Cavs, he’ll get ample amount of support from teammates later tonight, as they look to get the upper hand in for the first time in the series with Indiana.
