On Friday morning, the Cleveland Cavaliers officially welcomed three-time champion Dwyane Wade to the organization.
While taking part in his introductory interview with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols, Wade caught the attention of LeBron James, his long-time friend. As Wade and Nichols began their discussion, James poked his head out of the side door at Cleveland Clinic Courts to give his new teammate a hard time.
“Damn,” James said with a smile. “What, are ya’ll doin’ 60 Minutes? You’ve been out here for an hour and a half.
“You got on make-up?,” James asked Wade with an even bigger grin. “Did they put make-up on his face!? You got on make-up. You ain’t that light.”
It seems as though James is thrilled to be reuniting with Wade. In fact, James likened Wade’s arrival to seeing a familiar face in class on the first day of school earlier this week.
There is no doubt that Wade is a solid addition to the Cavs’ rotation, however coach Lue elects to utilize him. In his 60 games played for the Chicago Bulls last season, the 12-time NBA All Star averaged 18.3 points on 43 percent shooting from the field, 4.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.4 steals in 29.9 minutes per contest.
With the start of the 2017-18 NBA season approaching fast, hoops fans all over the globe won’t have to wait much longer to see these two characters in on-court action. With any luck, they’ll be throwing alley-oops to one another for a flashy finish at the rim, just as they did in the past.
