The Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant may slowly be creeping in for the best player in the world tag, but Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James remains to be the most dominant player of this generation.
Come All-Star Weekend next month in Los Angeles, the Cavs forward is set record his 14th straight start in the league’s midseason gathering of stars. This would break Bob Cousy’s record for the most consecutive All-Star starts in the history of the NBA.
What makes this even more impressive is the fact that Cousy has had his last All-Star nod in 1963.
This season, James is averaging 27 points, eight rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game. Those are phenomenal numbers, enough to put James in the MVP conversation despite his age.
The Cavs forward is 33 years old and he’s already playing the 15th season of his amazing NBA career. One may think that this is the time for his numbers to take a hit, but his stats have actually been a little better compared to last year.
Sure, his team may struggle sometimes because he can’t do everything. There have been plenty of criticism with regards to their defensive effort and tendency to cruise during the regular season.
But if the numbers prove anything, it’s that James is still on top of his game despite having accumulated a lot of mileage throughout the years.
Amazingly, James received the highest numbers of votes from fans, media men/women, and players. With that, he’s named as captain of one of the All-Star teams, opposite Curry.
