Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James is just seven points shy of reaching 30,000 for his career. His first shot at reaching that mark comes on Tuesday, as the Cavs are scheduled to play the San Antonio Spurs at 8:00 p.m. EST. James would be the youngest player to achieve such a feat, and only seven other players in NBA history have reached that plateau.

In lieu of his impending milestone, James, now 33 years of age and in his 15th season, posted a unique message on his Instagram account. The King, no doubt feeling reflective, shared a photo of his younger self clad in a St. Vincent – St. Mary’s uniform. In the caption, he wrote a congratulatory message to James the younger, and reminded him to “take a moment” to recognize the accomplishment that is 30K NBA points.

“Wanna be one of the first to Congratulate you on this accomplishment/achievement tonight that you’ll reach! Only a handful has reach/seen it too and while I know it’s never been a goal of yours from the beginning try(please try) to take a moment for yourself on how you’ve done it! The House you’re about to be apart of has only 6 seats in it(as of now) but 1 more will be added and you should be very proud and honored to be invited inside. There’s so many people to thank who has help this even become possible(so thank them all) and when u finally get your moment(alone) to yourself smile, look up to the higher skies and say THANK YOU! So with that said, Congrats again Young King.”

James is showing no signs of regression. In his45-appearances with the Cavs this season, the three-time champion has turned in averages of 26.8 points on 55.3 percent shooting from the field (36.2 percent from beyond the arc), 8.7 assists (career-high), and 7.8 rebounds.

Dirk Nowitzki (30,837 career points) is currently sixth on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. Let’s see how long it takes James to climb another rung on the ladder.
