On Thursday evening, the Cleveland Cavaliers held their annual Wine and Gold scrimmage game inside Quicken Loans Arena. After three shortened quarters of action, head coach Tyronn Lue decided to end the intrasquad matchup, leaving team Gold (the reserves) with a 58-56 victory over team Wine (starters).
Directly after the game, coach Lue and his players gathered near mid-court for a quick huddle. As the group began to disperse, LeBron James, who was held out of Monday night’s scrimmage due to an ankle injury, and Channing Frye, one of the funnier members of the team, decided to engage in a spot of shadowboxing.
Frye, 6-11 and 255 pounds, assumed an old-fashioned stance, while James, 6-8 and 260 pounds, took a more direct approach, jabbing and advancing on his smiling teammate.
With the start of the regular season just two weeks away, it seems as though the Cavs are in good spirits. However, coach Lue still has a few tough decisions to make with regards to his roster and starting rotation.
The Cavs will be back in action on Wednesday night, when they host the Atlanta Hawks at 7:00 p.m. EST for their preseason opener. Until then, have a go at these highlights from Monday night’s scrimmage.
