The LeBron James and the Michael Jordan debate will never be solved, but James passed Jordan in another record during Game 4.
James finished Game 4 against the Boston Celtics with 44 points which was the 7th time in the conference finals that he has scored 40 or more points. That also passed Jordan who only did it six times, and gave James the NBA record.
This is the second time this series that James has finished with above 40 points. In Game 2 he finished with 42 points, but the Cavs weren’t able to win that game.
Jordan wasn’t the only guy that James passed on Monday night. The King also passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for most made field goals in NBA playoff history. After the game, James said he was humbled to be even mentioned in the same breath as some of the greats.
“Anytime I’m in the same breath with the greats, it’s just humbling,” said James via NBATV. “I think it’s pretty cool.”
“To know where I come from, small city 35 miles south of here, and to hear I’m in the same category or talked about and jumping these greats in the playoffs, it’s pretty cool,” James said via ESPN. “You hear the scoring, the field goals made, and for a kid that really doesn’t care much about scoring.”
Every time that James has passed one of the greats, he has seemed to take the same humble approach that he has taken his whole career. He is just a kid from Akron, playing a kids game, and loving every minute of it.
