Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers have sent the Toronto Raptors to extinction. That’s exactly what happened Monday night when the Cavs completed a sweep of the Raptors in the second round. The game was not even competitive at all, as Cleveland made sure that any trace of hope for a comeback Toronto was cradling into the game would be snuffed out early, as the Cavs erected a 16-point lead at halftime.
Anyone who’ve followed the series sure had an idea that overcoming such deficit would be unlikely for a Toronto team who could not even keep a double-digit lead against Cleveland.
In the end, the Cavaliers exited Game 4 with a resounding 128-93 win over Toronto, a 35-point annihilation of the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference – the same team that finished the regular season with 59 wins and the same team that the Cavs swept in the same postseason around a year ago.
Also, according to ESPN, the Cavs’ win on Monday had the largest margin of victory in series clinchers in James’ career.
The Cavs superstar nearly put up a triple-double in the game, as he racked up 29 points on 12-for-19 shooting and added 11 assists and eight rebounds in 38 minutes of action. He also got ample support from his teammates with all starters scoring in double figures.
For now, the Cavs will take some badly-needed rest before resuming their playoff campaign against the winner of the Philadelphia 76ers-Boston Celtics series.
So far in the playoffs, James is averaging 34.3 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game.
