As good as LeBron James has been throughout his professional career, he has also been prone to turnovers whenever he plays. He has a career average of 3.4 turnovers per game, but is usually overshadowed by how good he is on the floor and because of all the success he’s had in his 15 seasons in the league so far.
By recording five more during their come-from-behind victory against the New York Knicks on Monday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers star forward moved up to sixth place on the list of players with the most turnovers in NBA history with 3,685, according to Basketball-Reference.com.
Only Karl Malone, John Stockton, Kobe Bryant, Jason Kidd and Moses Malone have more turnovers than the three-time champion. However, at the pace he’s on, there is a big chance he could end up in the top-three once he hangs his sneakers up for good or even with the most depending on how many more seasons he’ll play at the highest level. With how he takes care of his body and the incredible skill set he’s still showing though, it won’t be a surprise if he’ll remain a professional for at least five more years.
Despite the unwanted distinction, the turnovers he’s had should not define him as a player, as James is without a doubt one of the best to ever play the game. He is a shoo-in for the Hall of Fame and when everything’s said and done, will forever be remembered for his greatness everytime he competes on the court.
