The Cleveland Cavaliers did a complete overhaul of their roster right before the trade deadline, and it appears we may finally have LeBron James’ true thoughts on those trades.
During the media availability Thursday morning, James made a reference to the team not having any playmakers, at least not anymore.
“Obviously we haven’t had many playmakers throughout the course of the season. We had some early on, but we made the trades…”
It’s not a question if the Cavaliers did have some players before the trades, but for whatever reason, it wasn’t all working out.
Right now the Cavs could use the help of Isaiah Thomas, Dwyane Wade, and even Jae Crowder, but the Cavs shipped them off to get younger.
They traded for guys, who at the time looked like they could really help, but most of them haven’t played up to the levels they were playing at with their former teams.
Jordan Clarkson was a huge help off the bench for the Los Angeles Lakers, but with the Cavs, he has been nearly nonexistent.
During the regular season, Clarkson was averaging 13.9 points per game, but in the postseason his minutes have gone down and so have his number, averaging only 4.7 points per game.
Even if Thomas and James didn’t get along great, there is no question that James would welcome him back on this team for the playoffs if he was healthy.
The Cavs were protecting themselves for the future, and by doing so, it might just make James leave.
