On Saturday, the world witnessed the leading teams in the Eastern and Western Conference go up against each other as the Boston Celtics visited the Golden State Warriors. The showdown was possibly a preview of this year’s finals and was also a chance for all basketball fans to see two of the best point guards in the NBA today share the court together, as Kyrie Irving and Stephen Curry had the spotlight on them.
The two superstars did not disappoint as they both played at a very high level to the delight of those who watched the game. That included Cleveland Cavaliers star forward LeBron James, who took to his Twitter account to let everyone know how amazed he was seeing Irving and Curry go toe-to-toe on the night.
Both players top-scored for their respective teams with the former back-to-back MVP recording 49 points, four rebounds, five assists, and two steals for the Warriors, who won 109-104. Irving, on the other hand, had 37 points, two rebounds, and four assists for the Celtics, but his efforts were not enough for them to avoid losing for the fifth time in their last six outings.
Saturday’s matchup was already their last this regular season, but if it’s a sign of how they’ll compete in their next meetings, it won’t be surprising if more fans will root for the Warriors and Celtics to make it through to the Finals, as they will certainly be a must-watch for how they bring out the best from one another.
However, James and the Cavs will be bent on spoiling that scenario as they try to regain their footing in the Eastern Conference standings.
