After Tuesday’s 116-113 victory over the Washington Wizards, the Cavs find themselves riding the wave of a two-game winning streak for just the second time this season. Two games aren’t enough to brag about, but Larry Nance Jr. is hoping the team can build off of this new-found momentum.
“Momentum’s a scary thing,” Nance told ESPN after Tuesday’s night game. “When another team has momentum it doesn’t matter if you put the guys with the best plus-minus on the team in. Once it snowballs and gets rolling, it’s hard to stop.”
Nance, who missed eight games this month due to a right knee sprain, logged 25 minutes in Tuesday’s win, scoring 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field, 11 rebounds, two assists and one block.
“We’re talking a little bit more,” Nance told FOX Sports Ohio during his post-game media availability. “Whether it’s the bench or guys on the court, we’re hearing some more voices.
“Talking can cover up for a lot of mistakes,” Nance added. “It’s something that we’ve been harping on all year, but we’re finally starting to do it.”
With Tuesday’s win, the Cavs snapped a nine-game losing streak at Quicken Loans Arena. Prior to that, their last victory inside The Q came against the New York Knicks on December 12th.
Nance and the Cavs will look to keep their momentum rolling on Saturday, when they’ll serve as hosts to the Dallas Mavericks. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, with FOX Sports Ohio having live broadcast coverage.
