On Sunday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers suffered a humiliating blowout loss at the hands of the lowly Chicago Bulls, 112-92. Following the demoralizing defeat, Cavs big man Larry Nance had some harsh words for his team, who had yet another lackluster performance on the evening.
According to Nance, he believes that the Cavs did not put up enough of a fight against the Bulls (and perhaps even throughout the most part of this season, for that matter), which left him with no other option but to blatantly call out his teammates.
“Not learning. Lack of growth. We’re not using our losses as lessons,” Nance added. “It’s tough to keep doing so. At the beginning of the season, it’s easy to go, ‘Alright we lost that game and here’s what went wrong and now we have to fix it.’ We’re kind of at the point where it’s like, ‘What was it this time?’ We’re trying to fix things on the fly whereas we have a couple of days off, we can regroup and mentally get ready to go on this second half stretch.”
Nance was a bright spot for the Cavs on Sunday, as the 26-year-old put up a team-high 20 points (on 9-of-14 shooting), six rebounds, one assist, and three steals in 33 minutes of action. He has taken advantage of his recent promotion to the starting lineup, and is doing his best to prove to head coach Larry Drew that he should remain there for the rest of the season.
