Tristan Thompson’s tenure with the Cleveland Cavaliers has come to an end with the former Cavs star signing a two-year deal with the Boston Celtics in free agency.
While Thompson departs the Cavaliers, Larry Nance Jr. believes Thompson deserves to have his jersey hung in the rafters at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Nance once had to face Thompson in his career when he was on the Los Angeles Lakers earlier in his career. However, in recent seasons, Nance and Thompson have spent time as teammates on the Cavs.
As for Thompson himself, he’s spent his first nine seasons in the NBA with Cleveland, serving as a role player for the team. Even though he’s never been a flashy player, Thompson has always been a hard-working player that dominates the paint when he’s in the game.
When the Cavs were a contender with LeBron James, Thompson held the role as the enforcer and rebounding machine. His contributions on the glass and on the defensive end were key in Cleveland being able to win an NBA title in the 2015-2016 season.
Throughout their history, the Cavaliers have retired seven numbers, including Nance’s father, Larry Nance. The other players to have their jersey number retired for Cleveland is Bingo Smith, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Mark Price, Austin Carr, Nate Thurmond, and Brad Daugherty.
Despite not being a high-scoring player, Thompson could find himself being commemorated by the Cavaliers when it’s all said and done.
