On Tuesday, Cleveland Cavaliers stud Jordan Clarkson led his team to a rare victory against the Washington Wizards with a team-high 28-point performance.
Following the Cavs’ 116-113 victory, big man Larry Nance Jr. decided to give the hot-handed Clarkson a new nickname.
“Cedi is playing incredible, looking to attack first and set up the shot second,” Nance said, via Joe Vardon of The Athletic. “JC is a walking bucket.”
Clarkson definitely showed that he deserved his new moniker against the struggling Wizards, as the 26-year-old went 10-of-15 from the field en route to another high-scoring outing. The 6-foot-5 combo guard also added six three-pointers, five rebounds, and two assists in 29 minutes off the Cavs bench. He may not exactly be a front-runner for this season’s Sixth Man of the Year title, but surely, Clarkson’s injection of energy and firepower from the bench has been an invaluable asset for the Cavs this season.
For his part, Nance was not bad himself, notching a 13-point (on 6-of-8 shooting), 11-rebound double-double along with two assists and a block. This was only the 26-year-old’s third game back following a two-week spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury. He is quickly getting his bearings back, and should re-enter the starting lineup within the next few games.
This is the Cavs’ second consecutive victory, and they are now officially the third-worst team in the league after overtaking the New York Knicks (lost 10 straight) by half a game.
