Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Larry Drew says Cavs combo guard Brandon Knight is starting to play like “the Brandon that I remember.”

Knight missed the entire 2017-18 season after tearing his ACL during the summer of 2017.

The Phoenix Suns traded Knight to the Houston Rockets before the 2018-19 season started. The scoring guard played in 12 games with Houston before the franchise traded him to the Cavs along with Marquese Chriss.

“He’s the Brandon that I remember,” Cavs head coach Larry Drew said, via Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com. “Probably not as explosive as he’s been in the past, prior to the injury, but still a guy who has a tremendous work ethic and he competes.

“That’s the thing I admire about him and respect about him. He’s a team player and he’s going to give you everything he has when he’s on the floor.”

In 13 games with the Cavs, Brandon Knight is averaging 8.0 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest while shooting 43.7 percent from the field, 43.2 percent from beyond the arc and 75.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Before the ACL tear, Knight could get to the basket at will and score in bunches. He averaged 19.6 points with the Suns during the 2015-16 season.

Knight is owed $15,643,750 next year, the final season of his contract.
