After the loss of LeBron James this past summer, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been understandably horrible. The Cavs are currently 1-10 and at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, a conference they have dominated for the last three years.
The Cavs just fired Tyronn Lue, the only coach who gave them a championship, and replaced him with lead assistant Larry Drew. All-Star Kevin Love has also been out with an injury, which adds to their woes.
Recently, Cleveland received more bad news as starting point guard George Hill will be out for at least two weeks with a shoulder injury. The Cavs were quick to make a move for a replacement as they signed former Memphis Grizzlies guard Andrew Harrison to a two-way contract.
Cavs head coach Larry Drew is excited to add the former Kentucky star. Per Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com:
“We’re down in bodies and we really needed to add another ball-handler,” head coach Larry Drew told reporters following Friday’s practice. “That’s the reason we brought Andrew in. I’m really excited about him because at that point guard spot he gives us some size. That was one of the intriguing things about him. I remember just playing against him, how he’s played well. I’m real excited to have him.”
Harrison was waived by the Grizzlies last week after only playing once this season. Harrison can spend 45 days with the Cavs before the team has to convert him to an NBA deal. The Cavs waived guard John Holland to make room on the roster.
