The All-Star teams have been revealed and with it comes the nostalgia of seeing LeBron James, Kevin Love, and former teammate Kyrie Irving playing together during the mid-February festivities.
Irving noted his reunion with The King will be more than
“When you’re on a championship team, it’s a bond that can’t be broken… We created history,” said Irving, according to the Boston Celtics Twitter account.
Despite the turmoil surrounding Irving’s decision over the offseason, the history that these three All-Stars have created will be forever engraved in the city of Cleveland.
After all, it was Irving’s iconic 3-point dagger that sealed the deal in an emotional Game 7, giving the city its first-ever NBA championship and helping James fulfill his promise to the people.
Irving chose to carve his own path by asking for a trade and took the backlash that came with his decision. Now a member of the Celtics, he will be putting his skill to the test against his former teammates more often than not, making this a unique opportunity to relive old memories playing alongside them.
James said picking Irving was a “no-brainer” decision after playing with him for three seasons and seeing the caliber of scoring he has become over the years.
Though only time will tell how the dynamic between them has changed after 50 games of playing with their own respective teams. For those nostalgic of the Irving-James dynamic, this will be one of the few chances to see them suit up for the same team once again.
