The Cleveland Cavaliers’ Kevin Porter Jr. is eager to prove his doubters wrong because he believes that he should have been drafted much earlier than where he eventually landed in the 2019 NBA Draft. Porter was selected 30th overall pick after the Cavs surrendered four future second-round picks and cash to get him. The 19-year-old guard believes that he should have been drafted way earlier, saying that he should have been a top-5 pick in the recent draft, per Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.

The former USC standout had a limited sample size in college because of injuries and suspension. He knows that what he went through in college significantly affected his draft stock, and he is glad that Cleveland took a chance on him. This is the reason why he is determined to give it all for the Cavaliers.

“I’m a scorer. But also contribute to my team every single night and if that’s scoring then I will score and if that’s rebounding than I will get all the boards,” Porter said. “I just want to do everything I can to contribute to this team.”

Porter played 21 games for USC last season, which includes just four starts. He averaged 9.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in 22.1 minutes per game for the Trojans last season.
