Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love took to his Instagram story to react to the death of artist Stephen “tWitch” Boss, the DJ on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” and a contestant on “So You Think You Can Dance.” He passed away by suicide on Tuesday at the age of 40.
Kevin Love, who wrote about his battle with depression and anxiety in a 2018 Player’s Tribune article and opened the world’s first mental health gym, urged his Cavs followers to reach out to and continuously support their loved ones.
“Everyone is going through something you can’t see,” Love wrote. “Be kind. Reach out. Spread love.”
The freestyle hip hop dancer, choreographer, actor, producer, and personality grew from a guest DJ on Ellen to a co-producer in 2020. He made appearances on three editions of “Step Up,” the movie adaption of the musical “Hairspray” and Blades of Glory.
Allison Holker Boss, the wife of tWitch and a fellow dancer and choreographer, confirmed his death in a Wednesday statement.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us,” she said. “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.
“To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory.”
Allison Boss asked for privacy for her and their three children during a difficult time for her family before ending her statement with one final message.
“Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”
