The Cleveland Cavaliers will face off against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night inside Quicken Loans Arena, but it sounds like they could be without the services of four-time All-Star Kevin Love.
According to a report from Chris Fedor of cleveland.com, Love, who is now listed as “questionable,” is dealing with a bit of an illness and did not participate in Tuesday morning’s shoot-around.
Love, now 29 years of age, has been playing great basketball as of late. In his 35 games played for the Cavs this season, the 6-10 rebounding machine has turned in averages of 20.2 points on a career-high 47.1 percent shooting from the field (40.9 percent from beyond the arc), 10.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.
If Love is unable to play in Tuesday’s game against the Blazers, Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue will likely give Channing Frye a bit more playing time. For the record, Love has missed just one game this season.
Following Tuesday night’s game, the Cavs, losers in three of their last four, head out on the road for an 11-day, five-game road trip.
“We take one game at a time,” Cavs superstar LeBron James told cleveland.com after Tuesday’s practice. “That’s what you have to do. The road trip is (long). We just got off the road and we’re off for a day and a half and now we’re hitting the road again. So, our schedule has been kind of brutal for us the last few weeks but it’s an opportunity for us to play against some very good teams on this road trip and let’s see how we are in January.”
