Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue has been under a fair amount of scrutiny as of late. After a 5-7 start to this season, the Cavs managed to rattle off 13 consecutive wins. Since then, however, they’ve lost nine of their last 12, and fans are looking for answers.
After Monday’s practice session at Cleveland Clinic Courts, Cavs forward Kevin Love was asked to comment on what the Cavs can do to remedy their recent struggles going forward.
“Make sure we have that identity,” Love told Cavs Nation’s Nikki Goel. “That’s going to come with winning basketball games and finding a number of schemes or maybe even lineups… we’ve seen it. We’ve seen that we can string together a lot of wins. It’s about putting it all together.”
Love has been dealing with an illness for a couple of days, which he says caused dizziness. The former UCLA stand-out was forced to leave the floor during the first half of Saturday’s 148-124 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder and did not return to play. However, it sounds like he’s going to play against the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night.
Love, now 29 years of age, says coach Lue is simply in a tough position right now.
“That’s up to Ty [Lue],” Love said, referring to any potential lineup changes. “It’s a tough position to be in when you’re losing. It’s tough to make changes when you’re winning. It’s tough to envy that position because of the tough decisions.”
Despite the Cavs’ recent struggles, coach Lue noted that there will not be any lineup changes yet.
Although they’re currently the third-ranked team in the Eastern Conference, there is still time for coach Lue and the Cavs to figure out their points of contention. Let’s see if they can get back into the win column on Tuesday night.
