Cleveland Cavaliers star forward Kevin Love made headlines recently for the wrong reasons. In a clear expression of boiled-up frustration, Love threw a tantrum in the middle of their game against the Toronto Raptors last month.
It wasn’t received well by many, including his teammates, who felt their veteran leader has given up on them. Love also ducked repeated questions by reporters following the controversial incident. It was bared, however, that he did apologize immediately to the Cavaliers.
But now, with a clearer mind, it appears Love is hoping to make up for his mistake. After leading the Cavaliers to an impressive 102-94 upset of the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, their last home game of the season, Love gave some pretty telling comments that he’s still committed to the squad (via ESPN).
“I just wanted to win one at home before the season was over. “I didn’t want to come back in the locker room and feel angry. I didn’t want to feel that. Winning is definitely more fun.”
While he didn’t directly address his past issue, his remarks surely implied he’s sorry. The 32-year-old NBA champion also proved it on the floor, finishing with game-highs of 30 points, including 6-fo-9 shooting from beyond the arc, and 14 rebounds.
Even though the Cavaliers are already out of the contention, Love’s performance would surely leave a positive effect in the locker room, especially since he helped the team to its first home win since April 21.
It’s no secret that Kevin Love has been dealing with mental health problems and it’s a good thing to see that his heart remains in the right place.
