Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton has had a very good rookie campaign, but lately, he has been particularly impressive, averaging 22.6 points per game during the month of March.
Cavs big man Kevin Love has noticed the change in Sexton as the season has progressed, noting that the first-year floor general has gotten more confident as time has passed:
Sexton is not only scoring a lot of points this month, but he is doing it efficiently, as he is shooting 52.6 percent from the floor, 50 percent from three-point range and 82.2 percent from the free-throw line.
He has also registered eight straight games of 20 points or more.
The 20-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at the University of Alabama, was originally selected by Cleveland with the eighth overall pick of the NBA Draft last June.
On the season overall, Sexton is recording 16.2 points, three rebounds and 2.9 assists over 31.1 minutes per game while making 42.6 percent of his field-goal attempts, 41.9 percent of his long-distance tries and 83.7 percent of his free throws.
The Cavs currently own a record of 19-54, but they have been playing much better of late, notching back-to-back wins over the Milwaukee Bucks and Detroit Pistons this past week before losing by two points to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Of course, the Cavaliers are coming off four consecutive finals appearances, one of which ended in a championship in 2016. However, LeBron James departed for the Los Angeles Lakers via free agency this past summer, putting Cleveland in rebuilding mode.
The Cavs will take on the Bucks again on Sunday.
