The Cleveland Cavaliers signed veteran forward and overall tough guy Kendrick Perkins for the remainder of the season. More than logging in valuable minutes, he is expected to be the voice that everyone would listen to.

Perkins spoke about his recent postseason signing with the Cavs. He spoke about their loss in Game 1 to the Indiana Pacers, something that caught them completely off guard. The Cavs are the favorites to win this series but were pummeled, 80-98 at home. As reported by Joe Gabriele of cavs.com, Perkins said:

“Well, I think (Indiana) just came out and punched us in the mouth. I think they came out with a physical mindset, they put pressure on us, they knocked us off our spots.

But I just think we need to be more physical in Game 2. We didn’t play basketball the way we’re capable of playing. So, we’ve just been emphasizing being more physical and being ready for the challenge.

Plus, you had a couple of guys – it was their first time being in the Playoffs and a couple of guys who haven’t been in a while.

That’s no excuse, but it’s always good to get that first game under your belt — good or bad.”

With these realities in mind, we can assume that Perkins is loading up on is ammo. He is expected to give advice to the young guns in the team like Ante Zizic, Cedi Osman, and those who are relatively new to the Cavs organization. Because if there’s anybody out there who holds credibility and a ton of playoff experience, it’s Big Perkins.
