Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue will opt to rest Jordan Clarkson in Monday’s preseason game against the Indiana Pacers. Nothing to worry about here, though, as Clarkson is just slated to rest and is not injured at all.
Monday’s preseason game will feature the Cavs and Pacers in a rematch of this past season’s first-round playoff matchup. In the team’s first two preseason games against the Boston Celtics, Clarkson played an average of 15 minutes per game and scored 12 points each. The 25-year-old spitfire guard was a vital cog as the Cavaliers managed to win both games.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard out of Missouri indeed deserves this rest before the regular season starts. Aside from playing right through the NBA Finals this past seasons, Clarkson also saw action in the recent Asian Games. Playing for the Philippines, Clarkson posted impressive averages of 26.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game. Recent reports also disclose that Clarkson had one-on-one training sessions with Lue this offseason.
It was a year of non-stop basketball for the Missouri product. With a full offseason of preparation with the Cavs, Clarkson will finally have a shot of redemption after a forgettable playoff stint with the team last season. He was not his usual self that as his confidence seemed to be at an all-time low.
But his excellent stint in the Asian Games and his private training sessions with his coach will definitely put Clarkson on his feet again. Look for him to have a career season for the Cavs this year.
