The Cleveland Cavaliers encountered a fierce and physical Game 7 challenge from the Toronto Raptors. But the Cavs maintained their composure and blew past the visitors behind a breakout performance from Jarrett Allen. And Allen himself hit LeBron James territory in beating Toronto 114-102 Sunday during the NBA Playoffs.

Allen came close to delivering a rare 20-20 game: Scoring 22 points while pulling down 19 rebounds in the victory inside Rocket Arena. But he joins the franchise legend James in this category according to ESPN Insights:

James produced 35 points, 15 rebounds and dished out nine assists in that seventh game victory over the Celtics eight years ago. The four-time NBA Finals champ sent the Cavs back to the NBA Finals with that outing.

Allen needed to redeem himself, though, from a Game 6 debacle. The Cavs big misfired from the free throw line by going only 2-of-6. Those white stripe misses stalled offensive momentum for Cleveland.

The star center endured one other rough outing in this series. Game 3 witnessed a monumental collapse to lose that one. Allen looked absent from the paint, dropping just 12 points but collected four rebounds.

He shifted back to the dominant post presence when Cleveland needed it the most. He reached double-double status before the fourth quarter. Allen protected the rim with fury too, including twice during this sequence late in the third.

Allen swatted three Raptors attempts. Then he trolled RJ Barrett toward the end of the game with a ā€œgo homeā€ message heard loud and clear.

Allen rose to a status last seen by James in this stage. This type of Allen Cleveland needs for round two, with the top-seeded Detroit Pistons now waiting.
