The lights are no longer too bright for Cleveland Cavaliers big man Jarrett Allen.
Allen was instrumental in the Cavs’ huge 125-94 victory in Game 7 of their second-round series against the Detroit Pistons. The former Texas Longhorns star had a night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, as he came away with 23 points on 8-for-14 shooting from the field with seven rebounds, an assist and a steal. He needed just 25 minutes to get those numbers.
It was another solid Game 7 showing from Allen. It can be recalled that he had a monster double-double of 22 points and 19 boards in the Cavs’ 114-102 Game 7 win at home against the Toronto Raptors in the first round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs.
The 28-year-old Allen has been a vital cog for the Cavs, so it was great to see him perform at that level in the series-clincher against Detroit. He thoroughly outplayed his Pistons counterpart, Jalen Duren, who coughed up just seven points on 3-for-7 shooting in the 26 minutes he spent jogging up and down the court.
But the job is far from done for Allen and the Cavs, who will face yet another huge challenge in the next round, where they will take on the New York Knicks in the 2026 Eastern Conference Finals.
Hopefully for the Cavaliers, Allen will be able to sustain his form and consistently make a positive impact on the floor in the next series. For what it’s worth, he averaged 10.0 points on 68.8 percent shooting from the field and 7.3 rebounds in three games played against the Knicks during the 2025-26 NBA regular season.
