When all is said and done in his career, Cleveland Cavaliers star guard James Harden will be a Basketball Hall of Famer.
The former NBA Most Valuable Player added to his stacked resume on Wednesday, when he notched his 4,000th career point in the NBA Playoffs during Game 5 of a first-round series against the visiting Toronto Raptors at Rocket Arena in Cleveland.
Harden joined the NBA’s 4,000 points playoff club after draining a shot from behind the arc off an assist from Cavs guard Max Strus. He also had a huge first quarter.
You can check out the bucket that got him to that scoring plateau here:
Of course, Harden collected most of their points during his previous stints with other teams. He started his career with the Oklahoma City Thunder, who made him the third overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. Hardne had three trips to the playoffs during his time with the Thunder.
When he got to the Houston Rockets, that’s when he truly blossomed into a legitimate NBA superstar. Harden also made the playoffs with the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers before the Cavs traded for him from the Clippers in exchange for Darius Garland and future picks in February.
But for all the points he scored in the playoffs, Harden is still chasing after one thing he has glaringly not yet achieved in the NBA, and that’s none other than a championship ring.
A win by the Cavs in Game 5 over the Raptors will take him a step closer to fulfilling that dream.
