The Cleveland Cavaliers marked their this straight win of the new season on Wednesday after taking down the still winless Orlando Magic, 103-92. It was another impressive performance for a new-look Cavs side, who have now improved to 3-1 to start the campaign.
Evan Mobley had his best game of the new season on Wednesday, going for a team-high 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting, to go along with three rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block in 34 minutes of action. The Cavs’ second-year stud has had a relatively slow start to the year, but it looks like he’s now coming into form.
The arrival of Donovan Mitchell may have had some sort of impact on Mobley’s sluggish start. Prior to Wednesday’s win, Mobley himself admitted that his lack of playing time alongside their new superstar could be a minor concern at this point (via Chris Fedor of cleveland.com):
“It’s been a different change on the court,” Mobley said. “Didn’t get any preseason games (with Mitchell). These are my first few games with him. But we’re winning, so it’s going pretty well.”
Then again, as Mobley said, the wins have been coming for the Cavs, so it can’t be all that bad. A few bumps in the road are to be expected, but as long as they’re winning, everything should be pretty good.
They did just that on Wednesday against the Magic even without the injured Darius Garland, and Mobley himself had a remarkable performance. Hopefully, the adjustment period is over, and things are going to go smoothly from here on out.
