The return of Isaiah Thomas is here, but the Cavs aren’t revealing when exactly they’re expecting the 5-foot-9 star point guard to make his debut. Just yesterday, Shams Charania of the Vertical reported that Isaiah Thomas is nearing his return to the court in the coming weeks with eyes still toward the beginning of January.
The 29-year-old has decided to take his own humorous approach to the situation by taking a verbal jab at the often used “league sources” in reference to inside information, jokingly tweeting out that he plans to return in April.
Although Thomas is clearly making light of the entire situation, he is closing in on his return to the court in the near future. He has continued to progress through his recovery from his hip injury that has forced him to miss the first couple of months of the season.
The fact that there are several reports regarding his availability ahead of the January timeline should speak to how well he has looked physically at this point in time. He has yet to experience any sort of setback over the last several weeks in his rehab from the injury.
Thomas’ return to the court should provide the Cavaliers with another offensive jolt that will help ease the scoring burden off LeBron James’ shoulders. Cleveland will likely progressively transition him into the fold once he’s cleared to play.
