The Cleveland Cavaliers are not the Cleveland Browns, but they have been doing a perfect impersonation of their football counterparts in terms of letting the city’s fans down lately. The Cavs are on a three-game losing streak, a stretch in which they have lost by a total of 64 points. Obviously, no one in Cleveland’s camp is happy with how things are going for the team, including point guard Isaiah Thomas who reflected on the team’s tendency to fall into a midseason malaise, saying that it’s something he would like to help correct, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
“But at the same time as a leader, we can’t have lulls. I know everybody says, ‘Well, this happens to this team, and they’ve been to three straight Finals.’ But that’s not acceptable. I’m going to do my part to show these guys it’s not acceptable, and we’ll go from there.”
It’s one thing to say it, and it’s another to do it. Thomas, however, is one of the most focused players in the league when he’s on the floor. That said, he is still under rest protocol, so he would not be able to join the Cavs on the court at least in one game of a back-to-back set, just like in Friday’s 97-95 loss to the Indiana Pacers.
Isaiah Thomas will likely be back in harness this Monday, though, as he looks to help the Cavs in a Monday home game against the Golden State Warriors. Since returning from a hip injury, Thomas has averaged 12.3 points and 3.3 assists for the Cavs.
