Isaiah Thomas had played alongside Al Horford for just one season with the Boston Celtics, but that seems to be enough for the now Cleveland Cavaliers guard to have a perfect read of the subtleties of Horford’s game. We get to know that when Thomas playfully commented on an Instagram post showing a photo of Horford in the middle of a practice.
Thomas and Horford were teammates in Beantown last year when they both helped the Celtics reach the Eastern Conference finals. Thomas played two years for the Celtics from 2015-17, while Horford was signed via free agency by the Celtics last year.
Thomas, who’s nursing a hip injury, is very unlikely to be on the floor when the Cavaliers host Horford and company on Oct. 17 to open the season, but we could imagine him whispering some tips on how to guard Horford in the post to Cleveland big men Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson.
